MAGAts, your king is in check.

Since the election of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States, the political division between Democrat and Republican has widened.

Cries of “make the White House white again” started the racial hatred. All of this is coming out the Republican Party.

For six of Obama’s eight years as President, the GOP controlled the House of Representatives. The right side of the aisle chose to adopt the strategy of endless investigating of Hillary Clinton and the four deaths of American citizens at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi.

Compare this to the lack of outrage when thirteen Americans were killed in 54 embassy attacks during the George W. Bush administration.

Not one congressional hearing took place over the American lives lost during GWB’s term in office. Yet Republicans investigated Benghazi for over five years. Hillary Clinton testified for eleven hours, and no finding or evidence of wrongdoing ever materialized.

Not one.

This pattern repeated when the GOP King ascended to the throne as the 45th President of the United States.

Oversight of the King

Congressional oversight is oversight by the United States Congress over the Executive Branch, including the numerous U.S. federal agencies. Congressional oversight includes the review, monitoring, and supervision of federal agencies, programs, activities, and policy implementation. Congress exercises this power largely through its congressional committee system.

US Constitution

Oversight is the responsibility of Congress, according to the US Constitution. Partisanship is not included in this definition as the need for checks and balances is greater than party affiliation.

Our founding fathers sought to protect us from a leader becoming “king” by including oversight as a way to control the executive branch.

Once the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced it opened an investigation into Donald Trump and his campaign, it was incumbent upon Congress to undertake the initial steps of oversight.

When Republicans were in power that didn’t happen.

Now that Democrats are in control of the House of Representatives, Congress is again doing its duties as prescribed in the Constitution. The allegations are incredibly serious.

The Wheels are in Motion

The Trump administration’s despicable policies are finally under scrutiny by committees in the House. We can expect investigation into separation of families at legal ports of entry. This is a gross violation of the protections afforded to those seeking asylum as granted under our Constitution, the highest authority in America.

In addition, there will be a host of hearings ranging from investigations of violations of the emoluments clause and obtaining Trump’s tax returns for other financial impropriety, to consideration of public policy surrounding gun violence.

Aside from the accomplishments of Robert Mueller and his team of investigators, the other shoe is about to drop.

Those named Trump and anyone associated with the Inaugural Committee are about to be taught chess and the vulnerability of their king.

Subpoena the King’s Family

Contempt of Congress is the act of obstructing the work of the United States Congress or one of its committees.

Historically, Contempt of Congress charges were thrown at those caught bribing a Senator or Representative.

In modern times, this charge is levied when an individual refuses to comply with a subpoena issued by a congressional committee or subcommittee. The threat of Contempt of Congress compels either testimony or the production of requested documents by reluctant witnesses. It is a federal misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum $100,000 fine and a maximum one-year stint in federal prison

One of the greatest powers Congress has is that of the subpoena. It requires anyone to testify in person or surrender evidence.

US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has subpoenaed the Trump Inaugural Committee.

Trump raised $107 million for his inauguration celebration. This is twice as much Barack Obama.

For his opening inauguration, Obama raised $53 million, which was a staggering amount. The day’s festivities seemed to match the donations raised. Obama had marquee performers such as Beyoncé, Jay Z, James Taylor and enjoyed the largest inauguration attendance in history.

Trump raised twice as much, and his biggest names were 3 Doors Down and Toby Keith, with a featured lineup that included high school marching bands playing to empty stands.

This led to a lot of questions.

Where is the King’s money?

New York party planner Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a friend of the First Lady Melania Trump, received $26 million. Why so much?

The time has come to show the receipts.

In addition to Melania and Trump’s daughter Ivanka, the investigation is likely to snag quite a few other big fish. Heading up the committee is a Trump friend, Thomas J. Barrack Jr who is the founder of an international investment firm, Colony Capital. It should be no surprise that many of those involved in the scandal have ties to casinos and real estate.

We don’t know is how much foreign money was funneled through the committee.

Congress wants answers to these questions and more, and so do the American people. The subpoena seeks documents related to possible fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and false disclosure statements.

Even if the Republican Party failed to investigate the improprieties of Donald Trump with the same zeal they went after Hillary Clinton, the Democrats will.

Because the American people deserve answers.
